Where to Ask First
Use the agency that controls the record or custody status. Current Alger County Jail custody starts with the sheriff's office. Court charges and hearing dates belong with the District or Circuit Court. State prison custody belongs with MDOC. Federal and immigration custody use separate federal systems.
